The O'Fallon Fire Department protects a 44 square mile area which includes the City of O'Fallon, the Village of Shiloh and the rural areas of the O'Fallon, Shiloh Valley, Caseyville, and St. Clair Townships. Our organization actually consists of two separate fire departments. The first is the City of O'Fallon Fire Department, established in February 1891. The second department the O'Fallon, Shiloh Valley, Caseyville Township Fire Protection District (OSVCFPD), was established in 1949. The manpower pool for both departments is the 41 volunteer firefighters of the O'Fallon Fire Department. We operate three fire stations and utilize 14 pieces of apparatus. Two stations are located in the City of O'Fallon and the third is in the Village of Shiloh. We are extremely proud to provide ISO class 4 fire protection.

The year 2004 was our busiest ever as we responded to 843 calls. Our average response time remained under four minutes. A total of 612 calls were in the city and the remaining 231 were in the Village of Shiloh and the rural district. Although we’re spending more time answering calls than ever before, each of our dedicated volunteers devote an average of over 200 hours annually to department training and many give even more time to specialized training provided by local colleges and the Illinois Fire Service Institute located at the University of Illinois in Champaign. Community service has long been a tradition and our volunteers continue to spend many hours installing smoke detectors for the elderly, hosting children’s birthday party’s at the fire station, providing fire extinguisher training to employees of local businesses, assisting other organizations in providing for the welfare of the citizens, and much more. We consider fire prevention to be our number one job so everything we do in the community has a fire prevention theme.

Where We Are

Although in semi-retirement, our loyal firedog still enjoys visits to the engine houses and rides on the apparatus. “American La France” is an eleven year old, full blood, female Dalmatian. Known as “Francie”, she is shown here standing watch with Fire Prevention Engine One.
